Once in a while my brain comes up with a series of ideas, when prompted by the most simple thing, that leads to adventure and a break from the sometimes monotonous day to day life we all fall victim to at some point during parenthood. This time, my brother and his girlfriend asked to get some photos. Whenever I can (and I'm always game) I like to find epic backdrops, even if that means a hike or a boat ride, or both. I love seeing new places and who better to experience it with than family and new friends? I had seen photos of this trail on social media and decided that this would be our photo session adventure.
Because it was a family affair, my 4 year old son came along for the hike. None of us had been there before, so the 3.2km seemed to stretch much beyond that but the scenery was incredible. The trail takes you up on top of the Precambrian Shield where you can see far and wide, and then inches into the lowlands and beside the river historically used by the Fur Trade; giving you such a wide variety of Manitoba geography, complete with a mysterious waterfall that comes from a rock. We will definitely be going back!
